RATES AND ESTIMATES

Thank you for trusting us with the care of your heirloom. We will do our best to restore your clock and win your appreciation.

Since most of our work is with clock restoration and repair, the term "clock" will be used through this statement. However, this statement applies to any item brought to our shop for repair, whether it's a clock, music box, or other item. Once your clock is cleaned and serviced by us, it carries our one-year warranty on parts and service.

Remember, periodic maintenance is essential in keeping your clock happy. Many manufacturers recommend oiling every couple years, and cleaning every eight to ten years, depending upon the environment.   

You’ll be requested to render a 50% “go ahead” authorization deposit when we prepare your estimate.  There is NO charge for the estimate, however, in the event we come to your home, you’ll still be liable for the service call charge.

We have a fully equipped machine shop to restore and manufacture parts for your clock.  Our staff is able to duplicate case moldings, cut gears and make just about anything necessary to get your clock back in running order.

 

ESTIMATE Fee:  NONE

SHOP LABOUR $80.00/hr; we will give you a written estimate for the cost of repairs.

Example:  Cleaning and rebuilding an average American shelf clock with two mainsprings requires rounds out to around $390.

SERVICE CALLS FOR GRANDFATHER CLOCKS or OTHER LARGE REPAIR ITEMS:  $135.00 and up (*1 Deduct $15.00 for Harrisonburg city limits)

This covers our travel to and from your home, to include one hour of service to your clock in your home.  Service beyond the first hour is charged at $20.00 per 15 minutes or fraction thereof.  To save money, you are welcome to transport your floor clock to our shop for services requested.

PICKUP / DELIVERY CHARGE FOR ITEMS: No charge for the initial visit, scheduled at our convenience.  We prefer to come to your home to pick up and deliver the clock.  If future visits are required beyond the warranty, then a service call visit applies.

This is a “quick stop” at OUR convenience.  We will come to your door to either pick up or deliver an item; this is not a service call where we do any work in your home.  If you require “in home” servicing, then a full service call will be scheduled.

If bushing work exceeds 5 sets, these charges may be increased slightly to offset the additional cost of bushing stock and labour involved.  These prices are approximate based on our prior service work and may be adjusted upward by no more than 10% as work if we find concealed damages. You will be advised of changes. Parts and special machining are additional to above charges

YOU WILL BE NOTIFIED BY U.S. MAIL OR INTERNET E-MAIL OF A FIRM REPAIR ESTIMATE 

          Prices listed are for fine quality workmanship. We are not cheap, but our work lasts! All repairs carry a one-year limited warranty for actual work performed on the movement, exclusive of time-keeping adjustments, leveling, damage from tampering or misuse, shock, abuse, or environmental conditions which contribute to corrosion and wear. Additional service calls to your home are exclusive of the repair warranty. For grandfather clock follow-up work, however, you are charged only for travel; only the actual work performed on the clock is warranted.

          No clock is fully warranted unless we have cleaned and restored the movement. If your clock had to be oiled to get it running, we cannot guarantee its running order. It will likely need cleaning and rebuilding within a couple of years.

ESTIMATES

·          There is NEVER a charge for Estimates

·          A “go ahead” authorization deposit will be requested at the time of our estimate.  This is payable by personal check, postal money order or cash.  If you authorize the “go ahead” authorization by electronic mail, and if we agree, then final payment is payable in Postal Money Order or Cash only.  If you still prefer to pay by personal check, then the check will be held for 10 business days before the work is released.  We want to trust everyone, however, it takes only a few dishonest folks with insufficient funds to spoil “Trust”.  Thanks for understanding.

·          If, after work begins that you have authorized, we discover additional parts that are defective, we will contact you with a revised estimate. At that time you may decline to have the unit repaired, and you may pick up your item. If you mailed the item to us, the item will be returned at your expense (we will require compensation for shipping and insurance expenses). 

·          Please Understand: We provide only a dollar amount of the estimate and basic failed part descriptions. We will not release specific part number information prior to the completion of repairs. These part numbers / descriptions represent an investment of time and resources.

·          The estimate that we provide is a dollar amount that is broken down by parts, tax and service charges. Estimates given are good for 30 days only.
